New delimitations: SHC reserves verdict on MQM plea

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday reserved verdict on pleas, challenging new delimitations in various constituencies of Karachi, Geo News reported.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and other parties had filed separate petitions in the SHC challenging the Election Commission of Pakistan's recent decision for delimitation of a number of constituencies in the port city.

The counsel of MQM Advocate Farogh Naseem, in his arguments, had said that delimitation without holding of a fresh census could not be made.

In 2001 elections, there were 178 Union Councils in Karachi, he said and added that addition of 100 more UCs in the metropolis was malicious.
