Sindh still awaits burn centres in five hospitals
PPI
KARACHI: The construction of five burns centres started in 2009 at the cost of Rs 255 million by Health Department in different cities of Sindh has not been completed yet, due to the lethargy of bureaucracy.
According to sources the project was to be completed in 2011. Former provincial health minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed had approved the plan to build the centres in Liaquatabad Hospital Karachi, Liaquat University and Hospital Jamshoro, Chandka Medical Hospital Larkana, Ghulam Muhammad Mehar Medical Collage Sukkur and Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas, to treat the patients with burns injuries at local level instead of shifting them to Karachi.
The Burns Centre Karachi is operating under public private partnership of government which could not meet the growing load of patients with burn injures, mostly brought from far-flung areas of the province.
