Sindh LB polls: nomination papers’ filing begins todayKARACHI: Candidates will start filing their nomination papers for the local government (LG) elections in Sindh today (Thursday).
The nomination papers can be submitted until December 29. On the first day of the process over 3,000 candidates affiliated with political parties are expected to file their nominations. Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said the provincial government had requested the Election Commission of Pakistan for more time to hold the local government polls.
He said that the issue of the local government bill was pending in court and its decision would be accepted. Local government elections are scheduled to take place in Sindh on January 18. In Punjab, today is the last day for candidates to submit their nomination papers. Local government elections in the province will be held on January 30.
