Ibad completes 11 years as governor of Sindh

KARACHI: Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan of the MQM completed his 11-year long, record term as Sindh Governor on Thursday. An official of Governor House on Friday said Khan became governor on December 27, 2002 and was the youngest incumbent to the post. Ibad now has the distinction to be the longest serving governor of any of the provinces in the country.
In view of his services, Government of Pakistan conferred on him the country’s highest civil award, Nishan-e-Imtiaz. Many development works were carried out during the past 11 years and a number of mega projects also executed.
The academic sector, too, made a considerable headway and enrolment in higher education has doubled. Khan successfully overcame various challenges that confronted the province from time to time. His services in the fields of health, law and order, commerce, trade, culture and sports were commendable and appreciated by people from every walk of life. He visited countries including US, Britain, Turkey, Gulf States that helped bring investment, especially in the province of Sindh. He encouraged holding various international exhibitions and seminars.
