Special court wants Musharraf before it on Jan 1
ISLAMABAD: A special court (SC) has directed its registrar to produce former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf before it on January 1, 2014 in connection with his indictment in high treason case.
A three-member bench of the special court, constituted to prosecute Pervez Musharraf under Article 6, issued the written directive on three pages.
Head of the bench Justice Faisal Arab directed registrar to produce Musharraf before the special court on January 1, besides making all security arrangements for him.
“The former president could not appear in the court because of recovery of explosive material near his residence. He is granted exemption from attending first hearing. However he will have to appear in the court on next hearing,” the court’s order read.
