Pakistani killed by mortar shell fired from Afghanistan

PESHAWAR: Mortar shells, fired from Afghanistan side at Nawagai town in Bajaur tribal agency, killed a Pakistani national and injured another, officials said on Saturday.
Security officials said the incident took place in border town of Nawagai area of FATA’s Bajaur agency, bordering Afghanistan.
“Three mortar shells were fired from Kunar province of Afghanistan and one of them landed on a Pakistani village,” officials said.
Officials did not immediately confirm whether the shells were fired by Afghan border troops or miscreants battling US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan as well as Pakistani security forces inside tribal areas.
Pakistan has been lodging protest with the Afghan government through military and other channels. However, firing from across the border leads to civilian casualties in Pakistan.
