KARACHI: Suspension of electricity to Pipri and Hub Pumping stations of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB), caused a total shortfall of 75 million gallons of water to the metropolis, said a spokesman of the Board. In a statement issued here on Sunday, the KWSB spokesman said that different areas of Karachi were affected due to water shortfall. He said that the power supply remained suspended on Saturday from 11:00am to 1:00am at night to Pipri pumping station, which caused a shortfall of 40 million gallons of water. The electricity supply also remained suspended from 12:00am Friday to 12 midnight on Saturday, to Hub pumping station, which caused 35 million gallons water shortfall, he added. “The water supply was restored right after the restoration of electricity to both pumping stations,” the spokesman informed, adding that the engineers concerned were in constant contact with Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) officials with regard to the matter of power suspension.
