‘Make-or-break’ year for Pakistan, says Altaf

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain said on Monday that 2014 could prove a “make-or-break year” for Pakistan and warned the rulers not to repeat mistakes committed in the past.In a statement, the MQM chief said that delay in implementation of key decisions on national security could inflict an irreparable damage on the country. He said that it depended on rulers whether they wanted to move the country towards stability or destruction. “The rulers should take right decisions and act upon those without any delay for safety and endurance of the country,” said Altaf.Citing the challenges that the new year could pose to Pakistan, he said, “I passionately appeal to all those forces that run Pakistan overtly and covertly that instead of repeating mistakes made in the past, please make decisions that are essential for country’s security, prosperity and implement those decisions without wasting any moment.”“I hope and pray that the new year would be a positive omen for the country. My prayers are always there for my country, however, I have carefully analysed short and long-term national and international policies and have come up with an analysis that I would like to present before the nation, its intellectuals, its rulers and powerful covert forces. My analysis suggests that the new year could not only turn out to be a tough and challenging year for Pakistan, it could also be a make or break year for the country,” added Altaf. The MQM chief warned in the statement that any delay in decision making on safety and survival of the country could prove harmful.
