By Asim Qadeer Rana

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s Spokesman Dr Musadiq Malik has said that the planned talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would strengthen democracy in the country. The statement comes as both sides have shown willingness to go for a meaningful dialogue on disputed issues and have welcomed each other’s support for the dialogue process. In a linked development, senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal and PTI’s Asad Umar held a meeting and agreed to formally kick off the negotiations tomorrow. Addressing a press briefing here on Thursday, the PM’s spokesman hoped a breakthrough in the dialogue between government and PTI is expected during the next couple of days. He added that the both sides would try to resolve the issues on table. “No state can make progress without political stability. Everybody must work together for the country’s prosperity,” he said. Malik said that the resumption of stalled talks between the government and PTI was a good omen for democracy.
