Afghan Refugees having legal documents can stay in Pakistan until end of 2015: UNHCR
INP
KABUL - United Nations Higher Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says Afghan refugees in Pakistan have legal immigration documents until end of 2015, so they have the right to live legally in the country based on the legal document.
According to UNHCR spokesman, Afghan refugees’ immigration cards are to expire until the end of 2015. He said that Pakistan government was obliged to repatriate Afghan refugees to their homeland based on their willingness. The statement was made after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government claimed that terrorist attack on an army school in Peshawar city had been planned in Afghanistan, deciding that Afghan refugees should leave the state in a month. Based on statistic of UNHCR, 1.6 million Afghan refugees have been recorded in Pakistan, where most of them are living in Peshawar and other cities of Pakhtunkhwa. However, the non-registered Afghans are more than those legally staying in Pakistan.
