Death penalty of 5 terrorists upheld

RAWALPINDI: Justice Arshad Tabassum of the Lahore High Courts (LHC) Rawalpindi bench has dismissed the stay order for the execution of five terrorists convicted by a military court. Appeals had been filed by the terrorists to have their cases heard by a civilian court.

The LHC Rawalpindi registry on Monday suspended the death warrants of five persons convicted by a military court for their alleged involvement in attacking armed forces personnel in Gujranwala/Gujrat.

The LHC had issued notices to the legal counsel of the five terrorists after the federal government had filed an application for recalling the orders.

The five convicts include Kamran Aslam, Umar Nadeem, Irfan Azeem, Amir Yousaf and Atif Idress are detained at the Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore.
