PM chairs high-level meeting to discuss APC decisions

ISLAMABAD: A committee headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will oversee the implementation of the anti-terrorism national action plan.

The committee chaired by Prime Minister Sharif will comprise federal ministers Chaudhry Nisar, Pervaiz Rashid, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif and advisor Sartaj Aziz.

The prime minister has also issued directives to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and the State Bank to start investigating accounts in an effort to stop financial assistance being provided to terrorists. The Defence Ministry has been directed to form an anti-terrorism force.

The prime minister has emphasised that the anti-terrorism action plan should be implemented within days not weeks or months.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was chairing a high-level meeting which is discussing implementation of the 20 point anti-terrorism national action plan which was approved by the All Parties Conference (APC) on December 24.

Decisions taken during the APC included the formation of special courts for a period of two years to cope with the menace of terrorism. Also madrassas would not be allowed to operate without proper registration and NACTA would be made fully functional and its financial issues would be solved.
