ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday chaired a high-level meeting regarding implementation of the National Action Plan against terrorism approved by the All Parties Conference and issued directives to the authorities concerned to immediately work on the constitutional amendments and legislation required for implementation of the action plan.
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s House, was also attended by the attorney general, federal ministers, legal advisers and constitutional experts.
Addressing the meeting, the prime minister said that he would visit each province of the country to review implementation of the National Action Plan, adding that it was necessary to stand by the intelligence and law enforcement agencies for successful implementation of the plan.
He also constituted a high-level committee to review progress and implementation of the action plan. The committee, headed by the prime minister himself, will comprise federal ministers Pervaiz Rashid, Sartaj Aziz, Khawaja Asif, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Ahsan Iqbal.
"Today’s Pakistan is a different Pakistan and after the national consensus on the action plan it is our responsibility to implement it in letter and spirit," Nawaz Sharif said. He also resolved to root out terrorism from Pakistan.
