K-Electric seeks Rs 1.64/unit cut in power price

By Ahmad Ahmadani

ISLAMABAD: K-Electric has asked the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to approve Rs 1.67 per unit cut in power tariff under the head monthly fuel price adjustment for the month of November. Sources at NEPRA told Daily Times that privately-owned K-Electric has submitted a petition with the regulatory authority (NEPRA) and sought decrease in power price on account of fuel price adjustment. They said that the K-Electric had sold one billion, 21 crore and 69 lakh unit of power to its consumers in November, adding that the fuel cost on power generation was registered low. “Rs 2 billion reduction in the fuel cost for power generation was recorded in November,” an official at NEPRA said on the condition of anonymity, adding that NEPRA would issue a notification of decrease after holding a public hearing to give approval on the request of K-Electric on January 6, 2015.
