Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) being observed today
Karachi/Lahore: The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and martyrs of Karbala is being observed across the country today amid strict security measures.
Processions are being taken out to observe the across the country. Pillion riding has been banned in Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta for security on Chehlum.
In Karachi, Chehlum procession will be taken out from Nishter Park at about 1300 hours. Prior to this procession an Alam procession will join from Shah-e-Najaf Imambargah Martin Road.
A Majlis will also be held at Nishtar Park before the start of main procession for Hussainian Iranian Imambargah Kharadar.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) has directed for fool proof security arrangements.
He also called for ensuring steps for maintaining strict vigil along with the routes of processions and majalis on the occasion.
In Rawalpindi, more than 5000 policemen, Rangers Elite Force personnel would be deployed.
The main procession would be taken out from Colonel Maqbool Imambargah which will culminate at the Imambargah Qadeemi after passing through its designated route.
Section 144 has been imposed in seven districts of Balochistan including Quetta on the occasion of Chehlum of hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), said security home Captain (retd) Akbar Hussain Durrani.
Pillion riding has also been banned in Quetta.
In Peshawar, Pillion riding is banned and section 144 has been imposed. Also, display of weapons is banned.
