Reham warns naysayers, says she knows how to fight back
I am Pathan, I know how to give away life and how to fight back... cleaning filth of the society is more important before stepping foot in national politics
LAHORE: Reham Khan warned on Thursday her naysayers, who she says showed their auqat (worth – in a derogatory way) by slandering against her following her divorce with former cricket legend-turned politician Imran Khan.
Speaking to media representatives after landing at the Allama Iqbal Airport here, she said those hurling allegations of receiving monetary benefits after her divorce with the PTI chief should come up with evidences.
Reham dodged many questions asked regarding Imran Khan and answering a similar query said ‘cleaning filth of the society’ was more important before stepping foot in the national politics.
“I am Pathan...I know how to give away life and how to fight back,” she said.
Reham said she was happy on her return to the country and added that she would resume her professional life as a journalist in next few days without wasting any more time.
When asked about those speaking against her on the media, she said there were only four such persons, adding that staying quite against abuses was not the right thing to do.
Dismissing allegations of receiving a residential apartment from PTI’s Karachi-based leader, Faisal Vawda, she said his wife and family had only supported and respected her.
She said those hurling allegations at her were susceptible of damaging the national interests also.
Reham Khan had earlier arrived in Pakistan after spending just over a month in London.
At the Heathrow airport, she was accompanied by journalist Mobeen Rasheed, who had invited her to a media conference a month ago and will now produce her show on a private television in Pakistan.
A source close to Reham had said yesterday that Reham Khan was facing “serious security threats in Pakistan” but she was determined to stay and work in the country.
“Reham Khan has been issued threats online and in emails. She has been warned of very serious consequences. She has proofs available which show that threats to her life are serious and she is worried that she may be attacked,” said the source close to her.
The source said that Reham Khan has not asked for “security protection” from the government but “her fears are genuine and some people are out to harm her for point scoring”.
Reham has said that she will campaign for the rights of Pakistani women as well as for the welfare of street children.
