Several political activists injured as clashes erupt during LB polls in Punjab
MULTAN: Activists of different political parties lock horns in various areas of Punjab during third and final phase of Local Bodies (LB) elections.
At least 10 people sustained injuries when activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came face-to-face in Shakarghar tehsil of Narowal. The activists of both the parties freely used club and sticks.
Army was called in to control the situation at a Government Boys school polling station of Rojhan Ward-5 in Rajanpur, where clash erupted between the political works of two parties.
Exchange of hot words also took place between supports of PML-N and independent candidate in Bahawalpur. Police reached and controlled the situation.
Similarly, supporters of PML-N and independent candidate clashed with each other in UC-1 and Ward 5 in Multan. At least eight motorcycles were damaged in the clash.
Also, polling was stopped at polling station No. 8 of Union Council 93, Multan after female supporters of PML-N and People’s Party came face-to-face.
PML-N and PTI workers also clashed in Layyah, where DCO called in Army to control the situation.
Polling was temporarily suspended for sometime after several people were injured in fight between PTI and PML-N activists at Ward 36 of Khoshab.
