JI, PTI want Election Commissioner to step down

KARACHI: Raising a number of questions on Saturday’s Local Government elections,
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have demanded of the Election Commissioner, Tanvir Zaki to step down.

At a joint press conference of JI and PTI here at Idara-e-Noor-e-Haq, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said polling started late in 90 percent poling stations across the city.

PTI leader Ali Zaidi claimed that polling staff was changed and polling material was supplied in an inappropriate manner to some of the polling stations.

He said the Election Commissioner should resign on organizing what he called a ‘bogus election’.

Ali Zaidi said consultations are ongoing on whether or not to lodge an FIR against Election Commissioner Ali Zaidi.
