56,000 children to be vaccinated during anti-polio drive

KHYBER AGENCY: Three days anti-polio immunisation campaign started in Khyber Agency on Saturday during which over 50 thousand children will be vaccinated. Khyber Agency assistant political agent told inp that for first time after five-year gap, 40 lady health visitors (LHVs) are taking part in the campaign and they have been given task to vaccinate 56,000 children of the tribal agency aged under five years. He said that three polio cases were reported in tehsil Landi Kotal of Khyber Agency during last one month after which Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has imposed polio emergency in the tribal agency. The assistant political agent said that all resources would be utilised for success of the vaccination campaign and those who would try to create hurdles would be dealt with iron hands. He said that special security arrangements have been made for the immunisation teams who will visit door-to-door to vaccinate the children.
