KHARIAN: Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Saturday said the politics of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan revolved around mud-slinging of others, as he had no manifesto or agenda to pursue.

After attending an event in connection with the World Disability Day here, he said the people had voted the PML-N in the recent by-elections. They had acknowledged the efforts of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for transforming Pakistan into a powerful and prosperous country. The people, he said had rejected Imran Khan’s candidates in the local government (LG) elections for his habit of telling lies. He said the PTI chief was claiming to plant 100 million trees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and he should prove his claim and show to the media where the same were planted. Imran should not issue such illogical statements, he advised.

Speaking about energy crisis, he said the PM had put the country on the road to progress and prosperity despite the politics of sit-ins. Responding to a question, he said a comprehensive plan had already been devised to provide stringent security to media houses and the provincial governments had also been asked to take steps in that regard. Over the CPEC project, the minister said the project was set to connect two billion people through a network of motorways, railways, airports and seaports right from Gwadar and Karachi to Torkhum and Khunjrab border points. He said the project would not only benefit Pakistan but also the entire South Asia, Central Asia and China. Giving details about the government success, he said the international media had predicted that the country was to become bankrupt, but now they were acknowledging the government’s prudent economic policies putting Pakistan on the path to progress. The minister said Imran was responsible for impeding the country’s progress and prosperity by holding so-called six-month long sit-in, which had also led to the postponement of visit of Chinese president.

Over the security situation of the country, Pervaiz said the country was a victim of terrorism. Terrorists did not spare even hospitals, markets and military installations. The menace started spreading in the country during the tenure of General (r) Pervaiz Musharraf and Imran was also responsible, as he had supported the dictator in referendum, he maintained. The killers of Army Public School children had been hanged while the laws had already been amended to promptly punish the terrorists, he added.

Categorically denying any secret meeting between Nawaz Sharif and his Indian couterpart Narendra Modi, he said the prime minister meets world leaders openly. Such allegations damaged the country’s image. Earlier, addressing at an event organised by Al-Mudassir Trust, he said that Pakistan could be made self-sufficient by establishing welfare organisations. The special persons were used for begging but the Al-Mudassir Trust had made them self-sufficient by imparting education and skill development, he remarked.

Referring to killing of special children in the Paris attack, he said children regardless of their ethnicity or nationality, were dear to all. He said the government was taking steps for imparting education to the special children. The PML-N in its manifesto had also committed establishing special educational institutes, allocating special job quota, transport and building ramps in government offices for the special children, he highlighted. The Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus service, however, ensured the very facility for special persons through automatic lifts and elevators, he said.
