NewsGerman defence minister calls on Army chief
RAWALPINDI: German Defence Minister, Mrs Ursula Von der Leyen, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, the ISPR said in a statement on Wednesday.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues including defence cooperation, regional security and emerging geo-strategic environment were discussed.
The visiting German defence minister appreciated the phenomenal successes of Operation Zarb-e-Azb and paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Pakistani security forces.
Earlier, on arrival at the GHQ, Defence Minister Mrs Ursula von der Leyen also laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented the Guard of Honour to the visiting dignitary, said the ISPR statement.
