PM House hosts a series of meetings

ISLAMABAD - The Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday remained the hub of intense activities as it hosted a series of back-to-back meetings aimed at bringing peace and stability in Afghanistan and the region.

The Heart of Asia ministerial conference was attended by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, India’s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and top-ups from 14 participating states, 17 supporting countries and 12 international and regional organisations.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif - who was the co-host of the conference along with Afghan President Ghani - held bilateral meetings with the Afghan president, India’s minister and other delegates at the PM House.

The meetings focused on ways to foster efforts for regional cooperation and connectivity to promote long-term peace, stability and development in Afghanistan and the region.

Prime Minister Nawaz also hosted a luncheon in honour of the visiting dignitaries. The ministers of Iran, Turkey, China, India, Germany and US also held meetings with the prime minister.
