US stresses for dialogue between Pak, India to work out bilateral issues
WASHINGTON: The United States has appreciated Pakistan for successfully hosting ‘Heart of Asia Conference’ in Islamabad and said that the US always wanted a safe, secure, prosperous Afghanistan that can defend itself and its citizens.
In a daily briefing, John Kirby, the spokesperson for the US State Department said, “We’re grateful to Pakistan for hosting Heart of Asia talks in Islamabad.”
To a question, John Kirby stressed for talks between Pakistan and India to bilaterally work out the issues between them and to continue to have a dialogue and to discuss and to reach diplomatic solutions to some of the thorny problems which the two countries still face.
“We want to see the discussions continue, so we’re encouraged by the recent dialogue between India and Pakistan. It’s exactly what we’ve been strongly trying to encourage,” the Spokesman added.
Pakistan and India, during talks between Pakistani leadership and visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, agreed to a Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue and the Foreign Secretaries to work out the modalities and schedule of the meetings under the dialogue including peace and security, CBMs, Jammu and Kashmir, Siachen, Sir Creek, Wullar Barrage/Tulbul Navigation Projects, Economics and Commercial Cooperation, Counter-terrorism, Narcotics Control and Humanitarian issues, People to people exchanges and Religious Tourism.
