Chandio tells Nisar to refrain from ‘issuing threats’

HYDERABAD: Sindh Government and Federation come face-to-face on Saturday over the matter of granting extension to Sindh Rangers’ special powers.

Sindh Information Minister, Maula Baksh Chandio at a press conference this evening said the Interior Minister is at liberty to adopt any option he wants but he should abstain from issuing threats.

On the issue of renewal of special powers to the paramilitary force, Maula Baksh Chandio while telling the Interior Minister to use any other option or play any video said taking the matter to the Sindh Assembly is a constitutional requirement.

He said Chaudhry Nisar should observe caution while issuing statements and advised the latter to ‘watch your own party’s interest and not ours’. The Interior Minister’s party has no standing in Sindh, he added.

He said the Rangers were given special powers in the past and the same will be ensured in future as well.

“Karachi operation will continue till the last terrorist is taken out,” he said, adding, ‘we support the operation in Karachi’.

Chandio said the matter is being taken to the Sindh Assembly to fulfill a legal requirement and assured that his party will get the bill relating to Rangers’ powers passed from the house. “We enjoy majority in the Assembly, therefore, adoption of the bill will be a smooth sailing,” he said.
