INP
ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will visit China next week to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting.

The Foreign Office said that the prime minister will lead the Pakistani delegation to the Heads of Governments Council meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) being held in Zhengzhou, China on 14-15 December 2015.

The SCO is an important organisation founded in Shanghai on 2001. Its member-states include China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Pakistan and India became full member of the organisation in the Heads of State Summit held in Ufa on July 2015.

Pakistan completed relevant procedures to become the SCO’s full member and fully coordinating efforts with its secretariat and other member countries in that regard. As an observer state, Pakistan had been making substantive contribution to regional peace, security and development.

On the sidelines of the SCO meeting, prime minister will have a bilateral meeting with the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, in which issues of mutual interest will be discussed.
