Opposition parties say there is ‘monarchy’ in Sindh
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmaker on Monday came down hard on the provincial government for failing to table a resolution in connection with the extension in Rangers' powers, saying there is no government in Sindh; it’s monarchy.
Talking to newsmen outside Sindh Assembly, the MQM leader said the opposition has provided safe-exit to Sindh government by staging a protest over the issue of extension in Rangers special powers.
Former Chief Minister (CM) Sindh, Liaquat Jatoi said Rangers should have powers to put a check on 'white-collar corruption'.
Another former CM Arbab Ghulam Rahim said both Rangers and army should be given powers to across the Sindh, as ‘the real corruption is taking place in the interior parts of Sindh’.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislator Khurram Sherzaman said he is unable to understand MQM's stance on the issue of extension in Rangers' powers. He added that the PTI had invited MQM to join the former in the protest but they refused.
The resloution regarding Rangers' powers won't be tabled in the assembly as 'Private Members Day' will be observed tomorrow.
