Karachi witnesses rallies in favour of Rangers’ powers

KARACHI: Various political and religious parties on Monday staged rallies to lodge their protest against Sindh government’s failure to extend Sindh Rangers’ special powers.

The parties that took part in the protest demonstrations included Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), Sunni Tehreek, Islamic Ideology Council, Tahaffuz-e-Aman rally and others.

The participants of the rallies held national flags and chanted slogans against Sindh government.

Talking to media persons, the protestors claimed that Chief Minister Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah and his cabinet was protecting terrorists as they are not extending Rangers’ powers.

Traders, builders and industrialists of Karachi also held press conferences in favour of rangers and demanded of the Sindh government to extend powers of the paramilitary forces so that Karachi operation could be taken to its logical conclusion.
