Nawaz tasks Dar to resolve Rangers issue

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has tasked Finance Minister Ishaq Dar with resolving the issue of confrontation with Sindh government on the matter of extension of Rangers powers.

Credible sources have said that the minister would take former president and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and opposition leader in National Assembly Khursheed Ahmed Shah into confidence. Sources noted that on Saturday, the federal government and Sindh government levelled allegations on each other and there were rumours of likely imposition of governor’s rule in Sindh. They said that in the second tenure of PM Nawaz Sharif, his government was dissolved when governor’s rule was imposed in Sindh, and the PM does not want to face a similar situation.
