PIA privatisation challenged in SC

LAHORE: The proposed privatisation of PIA has been challenged in Supreme Court (SC) Lahore registry. Petitioner Barrister Zafarullah has taken the plea that the government has promulgated an ordinance for the privatisation of PIA while an assembly was going to meet two days after its promulgation. “The promulgation of the ordinance two days before holding of assembly session was an unconstitutional step,” the petitioner has argued, adding that no institution could be privatised without recommendations of the Privatisation Commission, therefore the court should nullify the ordinance for the PIA privatisation.
