LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday said that the government is making sincere efforts to mitigate energy crisis in Pakistan by the end of 2017 and several coal and solar-based power project are in pipeline.
Stressing government’s sincerity to overcome energy crises, he said that thousands of megawatt power would be added to the national grid by the end on 2017. Several coal-based and solar powered projects were either in pipeline or on the floors in Punjab, he said.
He said that projects that would run on gas had been initiated in Jhang, Sheikhupura and Baloki. A coal-powered project was on way to a speedy construction in Sahiwal and a total of 1,320 megawatt power would be produced through this project.
He said that cooperation between Pakistan and China in different sectors would help better the regional stability besides the obvious growth of Pakistan. He said that collaboration like China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) does not find any parallel in the world. The neighbours not only stand with each other but were investing to help bettering the sectors that need attention, he said.
