Sindh govt resolution on Rangers powers misses ‘terrorism’
KARACHI: Sindh government forgot to add the most relevant word ‘terrorism’ to its resolution granting extension to Sindh Rangers.
However, the provincial government in its second letter to the Federation added the word ‘terrorism’. The letter proposed to reduce the term of extension in Rangers powers from four to two months and to limit the use of these powers to Karachi.
The second letter proposes that the conditional powers to the paramilitary force will be meant for Karachi only.
It also proposed to cut down the term of extension in the special powers from four to two months (from December 6, 2015 to February 5).
Now it is at the discretion of the Federation to either grant the special powers to Rangers in light of the Sindh government’s proposal or the relevant law.
Chandio says ‘we are afraid of nothing’
Sindh Information Advisor, Maula Bakhsh Chandio says Rangers mandate is not take action against corruption and since the extension in paramilitary force’s powers was a constitutional matter, the provincial government took it to in Sindh Assembly.
In an interview to Geo News, the provincial Information Advisor said he had spoken to Director General Sindh Rangers and the latter only expressed reservations on two-three things.
“We are afraid of nothing,” Chandio clarified, adding the same summary that the provincial government presented before the Sindh Assembly was dispatched to the Federation.
