Dean Jones deportation: Ch Nisar orders action against private airline
ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar on Sunday ordered action against Emirates airlines, hours after Australian former cricketer Dean Jones was deported from Islamabad for lacking the required traveling documents including the visa.
“The airlines must be fined in the same manner Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) gets fined in other countries,” Chaudhry Nisar said in a statement, adding, PIA is made to follow the law of the land in other countries.
He refuted the impression that Pakistan’s Interior Ministry can allow entry to a foreigner without a visa. “No foreigner lacking the required visa can enter Pakistan,” he added.
Ordering action against Emirates airlines, whose flight flew Dean Jones to Pakistan, Nisar directed the concerned authorities to make Emirates abide by Pakistani laws.
He asserted that all foreign airlines and foreign nationals traveling to Pakistan will have to follow the law of the land.
However, Dean Jones who after deportation reached Dubai, said there is no truth in the reports of his deportation, saying he was very much in possession of the required visa. He said there was only one other document that was missing.
But, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said Dean Jones was deported from Islamabad for not having the required visa.
