Pak, US agree to enhance defence ties

WASHINGTON: Pakistan and the United States have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in defence sector.
The understanding came during meeting of the Pakistan-US Defence Consultative Group in Washington. Pakistan side was led by Defence Secretary Lieutenant General (r) Muhammad Alam Khattak, while US Under Secretary of Defence Christine E Wormuth led her country’s team. In accordance with the joint statement issued after the meeting, the two sides expressed satisfaction over promotion of cooperation in security sector and agreed to continue cooperation for regional security and peace. United States reiterated that it would continue to provide assistance for boosting capacity of Pakistani security forces. Pakistan also expressed its resolve to take the ongoing operation against terrorism to its logical conclusion.
