Rangers challenge replacement of public prosecutor in Dr. Asim case
KARACHI: Sindh Rangers on Monday challenged replacement of special public prosecutor, working on the cases against former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain, in Sindh High Court.
Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday replaced the special public prosecutor in the case against former federal minister, who faces charges of abetting terrorists.
The Sindh government has now appointed Nisar Ahmed Durrani in place of Mushtaq Jehangiri as the special public prosecutor in the case.

The court has also accepted the paramilitary force plea for immediate hearing of the petition.
Two-judge bench headed by Justice Naimtullah Phulpoto will hear the Rangers petition.
Also on Saturday, The Rangers filed a petition in the SHC against the possible transfer of the special public prosecutor in the case.

The Rangers deputy superintendent Inayatullah Khan Durrani submitted in the petition that the provincial government, with ulterior motives, was trying to influence the investigation and the prosecution of the trial against Dr Hussain.
The petitioner submitted that following the transfer of the investigation officer of the case, the provincial government now wanted to replace special public prosecutor Mushtaq Jehangiri to assist Dr Hussain, who was also a close aide of former president and Pakistan People’s Party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari
