Nisar Durrani appointed special prosecutor

KARACHI: The Rangers concerns came true as Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Sunday authorised the removal of Mushtaq Jehangiri, the special public prosecutor working on the cases against former federal minister Dr Asim Hussain, and the appointment of Nisar Ahmed Durrani in his place.

The move came a day after the Rangers filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the possible transfer of Mushtaq Jehangiri, who had come out with allegations of undue pressure against the government last Friday.

In the petition, the Rangers accused the government of harbouring ulterior motives and submitted that they were trying to influence the investigation and prosecution of the trial against Dr Hussain.
