No irregularity occurred in issuance of passports: Sartaj
Adviser says mission in Sana’a was temporarily closed

ISLAMABAD - Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday informed the Senate that 116 Pakistani missions were working abroad and out of them only mission in Sana’a had been temporarily closed due to the critical security situation in Yemen.
To a question, he said that matters pertaining to Pakistanis living in Yemen were being looked after by Pakistan’s embassy in Saudi Arabia where a special officer had been deputed for the purpose. He said that 50 missions were functioning in the owned buildings and 64 in hired ones. The rent was paid as per the existing rules and with the prior approval of the government, he said.
He said that the Foreign Affairs Ministry owned plots in 13 countries. He said missions in China, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and Sudan had issued around 20,03,812 passports to the nationals during last five years. He said that 5,013 passports were issued in China, 5,666 in South Korea, 859,302 in the UAE, 1132,848 in Saudi Arabia, 143 in Uzbekistan and 840 in Sudan. “No irregularity has come to the notice in issuance of the passports,” he said.
