Pakistan, India to hold talks next month: Sartaj
Adviser says Pakistan voluntarily joins Saudi-led military alliance

ISLAMABAD - Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday said that Pakistan and India will hold talks on next month in Islamabad to discuss all outstanding issues and India’s foreign secretary was expected to visit Pakistan before the talks.

Talking to newsmen here at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, he said that the foreign secretaries would discuss eight to nine issues on agenda. He said that the representatives of Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and the US would meet in the first week of January to discuss ways to resume dialogue between Afghan government and the Taliban.

“The meeting of the four-party mechanism on reconciliation in Afghanistan will assess the situation and discuss the mechanism of the second round of dialogue,” he said.

About Pakistan’s participation in the Saudi-led 34-nation coalition against terrorism, Sartaj said that Pakistan supported its political objectives against terrorism and had joined the Saudi initiative on voluntary basis. He said that Pakistan had asked Saudi authorities to provide them more details about the alliance.

The adviser said that the decision about the extent of participation would be made after the bilateral and collective meetings. Our decision would be in accordance with our national policies.
