Nation celebrates Eid Milad-un-Nabi with religious fervour
Day commences with three-gun salute in federal capital and 21-gun salute in provincial capitals; president, PM urge nation to resolve all issues through reconciliation
ISLAMABAD: Eid Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated across the country and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday with religious reverence and fervour.
The day commenced with a three-gun salute in the federal capital and 21-gun salute in the provincial capitals.Processions were taken out and Milad gatherings were held to mark the occasion.
The speakers shed light on the Holy Prophet (PBUH)’s life and teachings and urged the faithful to mould their lives in accordance with the way and life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Major mosques in cities and towns were tastefully illuminated.District governments and private organisations had also made elaborate arrangements for illumination and decoration of buildings and parks.
The government had declared the day a public holiday.The annual National Seerah Conference was held in the federal capital to highlight the teachings and Seerah of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).
Grand Mufti of Turkey Rahmi Yaran was the chief guest.President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in their messages called upon the nation to resolve all issues through reconciliation and dialogue in keeping with the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The prime minister said Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) described all Muslims as a single body.“Our survival and progress lies in consensus, unity and consultation.
“Our Prophet (PBUH) gave us all the highest standards of teachings that can be required and also demonstrated all that through his acts. He did not ask for anything which he did not act upon.”
Security also remained on high alert in order to avoid any untoward incident on the occasion.The district administrations of Islamabad and Rawalpindi had made elaborate security arrangements for the Milad celebrations.
Leaves of Rescue 1122 officials and police were cancelled. A number of temporary stalls were set up in many streets across the towns where the sale of badges, stickers and flags was going on.As a tradition the Milad-un-Nabi processions were brought out in all areas of the capital city.
The central procession started from Masjid Al Raza Khadda Market and passed through the Saddar Road, Habib Market Service Road, Kulsoom Plaza, Fazal-e-Haq Road to Imambargah Luqman Hakeem Road, CDA Hospital, Shuhada Chowk, Razia Sharif Plaza, GPO to Melody Chowk, Aabpara Chowk, to Suharwardy Road Seventh Avenue, Chand Tara Chowk and Dhokri Chowk to the Kashmir Highway.
The procession of Bhara Kahu culminated at Jamia Mosque Shama-e-Rasalat. Sabeels of milk and soft drinks were set up along the routes of Milad processions in the city.
Cooked food was also distributed among the people, including the poor, orphans and the downtrodden.
Different committees organized the Naat competitions to mark the day. Over 400 processions were taken out from different parts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
In Rawalpindi, the main procession started in the morning from the Jamia Masjid Road which passed through the Circular Road, Waris Khan, Murree Road, Committee Chowk, Iqbal Road, Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazaar, Sihala, Gorakhpur, Adiala Road, Pirwadhai and other areas. — APP
Our correspondent adds: Jashan-e-Eid Milad Nabi was celebrated here in Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Ghotki, Qambher-Shahdadkot and other cities of Sukkur and Larkana regions with religious fervour and enthusiasm.
Mosques, Madaris, main markets, city chowks and houses were illuminated with lights and buntings.
Rallies in this regard were carried out amid tight security. Religious scholars addressing the rallies asked people to follow the principles of the Prophet (PBUH).
