No one can cast an evil eye on Sindh: Qaim

Says PM should restrain his ministers from meddling in Sindh issues

LARKANA: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said on Sunday that the PPP leadership was not cowardly and they were not afraid of anyone. No one, he said, could cast an evil eye on the province.

He stated this while addressing the eighth death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto. He said that he had warned Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to stop his ministers, particularly Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan, from meddling in Sindh’s issues.

He criticised the federal government for allegedly bypassing the PPP-led provincial government over the Rangers’ powers issue in Karachi.“I have revealed it six months ago that they are going to grab Sindh. I believe that Chaudhry Sahib wants to takeover Sindh,” Shah said, without naming Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. “We have served Sindh. In democracy, one person’s decision can’t be enforced,” he maintained.

The chief minister attacked Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali, saying, “One man cannot overrule the Sindh Assembly resolution.”The CM said the Constitution empowered the Sindh Assembly and the National Assembly and it was undemocratic for one man (Chaudhry Nisar) to set aside a legislature’s wishes. “We want democracy and a parliamentary system, where one man’s decision will not govern all.” Shah said and added that he had asked the prime minister to keep a check on his ministers, especially Chaudhry Nisar, who wanted to take over Sindh.

He said, “Sindh is now peaceful, and Nisar should look at other provinces.” The chief minister said just one institution should not be credited for peace in Sindh. “It was possible after help from the people of Sindh.”

Shah said that his government had been cooperating with the army chief and the premier but warned “no advantage should be taken.”Senior PPP leaders Manzoor Watto, Nisar Khuhro, Agha Siraj Durrani, ex-prime minister Pervaiz Ashraf and others also spoke on the occasion.

Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday donated blood in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the 8th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto. Bilawal Bhutto donated blood at the Naudero House in Larkana before going to address public meeting.

PPP workers also donated blood across the country. The blood donations would be given to injured soldiers of the armed forces in war against terrorism and patient welfare societies.
