NAP voice of entire nation: Ch Nisar

Says it does not speak for any individual, group or political party

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ch Nisar Ali Khan said on Monday that the National Action Plan (NAP) was not the voice of any individual, group or political party, rather it was the voice of the entire nation.

He expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting held here to review the progress on the implementation of the NAP and the status of the INGOs’ registration process. The meeting had a detailed discussion on the achievements as well as status of implementation of all points of the NAP.

While reviewing the progress on the NAP implementation, the minister directed senior officials of the Interior Ministry to collect relevant data and ordered them to devise a cohesive mechanism to ensure implementation of all the points of the action plan against terrorism.

Ch Nisar Ali Khan also suggested to categorise the pace of progress and performance on all the points of the plan adding that all those areas and points not being implemented satisfactorily should be brought on the priority list of departments concerned and provincial governments for effective implementation.

He said the NAP had not only improved the law and order situation in the country but also provided an impetus and courage to the nation against terrorism and extremism. The minister said that the NAP against terrorism was not a plan of one political party, individual or government department but was a plan supported and endorsed by each Pakistani. He said the implementation of NAP will continue with dedication, commitment and fervor.

The meeting also announced formal functioning of ‘INGOs Registration Procedural’ as per the new approved policy of the government. As per the new policy, two INGOs were registered formally on Monday and were allowed to operate in Pakistan. They were the ‘Qatar Charity’ and ‘MSF Belgium.’

The meeting was also informed that 127 INGOs had formally applied for registration for permission to operate in Pakistan.Ch Nisar Ali Khan directed the committee constituted for registration of INGOs to complete the registration procedure of remaining INGOs that had formally applied for the registration process.

The minister also said that INGOs having fulfilled the registration process as per the new policy guidelines would be provided the Government of Pakistan’s support all over the country. He added the government had devised a new policy mechanism to strengthen the mutual partnership among the INGOs and the government and to ease working environment for INGOs for operation in Pakistan.
