Eid Miladun Nabi (SAW) being celebrated today
ISLAMABAD: Eid Miladun Nabi is being celebrated with religious fervour and enthusiasm throughout the country today (Monday), 12th of Rabiul Awwal, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).
The day dawned with 31 gun salute in the federal capital and 21 gun salute in all the provincial capitals to pay homage to the last Prophet (SAW). It is a public holiday today (Monday).
The Milad celebrations are in full swing right from Fajr with special prayers at mosques, religious seminaries and other Mahafil to be held in this regard.
Conferences and meetings on Seeratun Nabi will be held in every nook and corner of the country where speakers will highlight various aspects of Uswa-e-Hasna, the sacred life of the Holy Prophet (SAW).
Milad processions will be taken out from all the major cities and small towns. In Lahore, the Milad procession will be taken out from Lahore Railway Station under the aegis of Central Event Committee for Jashn-e-Eid Miladun Nabi (SAW) at 9:00am.
Prior to the procession, a Seerat Conference will also be held in which prominent political and social personalities would be the guests.
The route of the procession has already been profusely decorated with buntings and banners besides setting up welcome stages at different points on the route.
Rose petals would also be showered on participants of the procession. Mosques, public and private buildings, markets, houses, roads and streets have also been decorated in a tasteful manner.
Various other Milad processions will also join the main processions at different places of the route.
On this occasion, special prayers will be offered for unity of the Muslim Ummah, progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
In Karachi, an estimated number of 290 small and large size processions would be taken out from different parts of the city on Rabiul Awwal 12.
Similar processions will be taken out from Peshawar. Quetta and other cities and towns.
The state-run radio and television and other media houses are airing special programmes underlining different features of the life of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). Newspapers also published special editions on the significance of 12th Rabiul Awwal.
