ATR inspection team starts PK-661 air crash probe

ISLAMABAD: The six-member ATR company's investigation team arrived in Pakistan to inspect the Dec. 7 tragic PK-661 air crash which left 47 people dead, including prominent singer-turned-evangelist Junaid Jamshed.

According to details, the investigation team included a manufacturing expert, a crash scene expert and other members. The team is comprised of three French nationals and three Canadian citizens. Sources claimed that the investigation team took stock of the progress which had been made regarding the air crash that took place on December 7.

The foreign delegation also met with members of the flight safety board. According to Civil Aviation Authority sources, the debris of the crashed plane would be removed after the team completes its inspection of the crash site.

The plane had taken off from Chitral around 3:50PM on Wednesday, December 7 and PIA said the plane crashed at 16:42 local time (11:42 GMT) in the Havelian area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, about 125 km north of Islamabad.

PIA Chairman Azam Saigol had confirmed that there were no survivors of the tragic plane crash and that aircraft was 'fit to fly'.
