Plane crash victims identification process to complete by Dec 17

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr. Tariq Fazal Chuadhry on Monday said that identification process of all PIA plane crash victims is likely to be completed by Dec 17.

Talking to media during the visit to PIMS hospital, the minister said that 12 victims have been identified so far, through their different things like used items and from teeth.

The remaining 35 victims’ bodies will be identified through DNA. He said the Australian citizen was identified through knee transplant.

He said the PIMS administration has played an appreciatable role in providing the best services to the family members of victims, besides participation in identification procedure.

He said that it was hard time for family members of victims however the government tried it level best to give maximum relief to them.

He said that on the direction of Prime Minister, special arrangements were made to serve those family members of victims who reached here from far flung areas. The accommodation and food were provided to them during their stay here, he added.

PIA already announced Rs 0.5 million each as burial charges, while further relief compensation amount will be announced later on, he said.

He said a new state of the art emergency has been established at PIMS to share the load of old emergency at PIMS. He said three to four CMOs remain at duty at emergency to serve the incoming patient.

He said PIMS burn center was being upgraded while capacity of children hospital was also being enhanced.
