Imran Khan ends parliament boycott

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday announced to end its boycott of the parliament to table a couple of motions against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and warned of chalking out "future course of action if the motions were not responded".

"Of what use is the parliament if people can't benefit from it," he said, adding all the institutions that were supposed to ensure accountability had failed. "Government, opposition and the parliament face a test tomorrow ," he said. He called on PML-N parliamentarians to learn from the example of South Korean lawmakers from President Parks's party who supported impeachment of their leader.

Talking to media, Khan said his party would submit privilege and adjournment motions against the prime minister who he said lied to the parliament about his London property. The PTI chairman said Nawaz Sharif lied he had all the documents that would corroborate his claim of purchasing flats in London with the money acquired through profits from Gulf Steel in Dubai.

"When I take to streets they accuse me of inviting the military, but this time we would see how do they respond to the motions," he said.

"Nawaz Sharif's lawyers in the court said he made a political statement in the parliament," Imran said. "Why should we trust the premier when he lies before the parliament?"

He also questioned the logic behind Sartaj Aziz's trip to India where he attended the Heart of Asia moot.
