‘We will never forget’: Gen Bajwa vows to avenge blood of APS martyrs

PESHAWAR: Army Chief General Qamar Bajwa on Friday, vowed to bring the perpetrators of the APS tragedy to the book at all costs.

A ceremony was held at APS Peshawar today to pay homage to the martyrs of APS tragedy. The COAS laid a floral wreath at the martyrs’ monument and offered Fateha for the departed souls.

Speaking on the occasion, the COAS said that the terror attack on innocent children of the school was an attack on the humanity and the most painful and unforgettable moment in our history.

‘We will never forget our children and thousands others who sacrificed in our fight against terrorism. While our heart goes with all affected families, I personally draw my motivation from this huge sacrifice.’

Expressing his sentiments, General Bajwa said he shared grief of all affected families as a father and a brother. Terrorists tried to demoralize the nation and armed forces by attacking the softest target, he added.

My message to enemies of our country is that our resolve is unflinching and we will chase these savages to their last bastion and will not rest till their total elimination from every nook and corner of the motherland, the COAS emphasised.

He assured the parents of martyred children that armed forces along with whole nation stand shoulder to shoulder with them during these testing times.

The COAS said we are trying our best to render all necessary assistance to the next of Kins of Shuhada and we will continue our efforts. The education is a prerequisite for progress of any nation and army will continue to contribute towards provision of quality education, he stressed.

Armed forces are guarantor of defence of the country and we will not leave any stone unturned to fulfill our duty, the army chief noted.

Later, he joined the families of shuhada, large gathering of locals, school children and staff for Quran Khawani within school premises.

 

Second APS anniversary:

The second anniversary of the gruesome attack on the Army Public School is being observed today to pay homage to the martyrs of the terrorist act.

It was on December 16, 2014, when a group of terrorists barged into the spacious Army Public School located in the Peshawar Cantonment and started indiscriminately killing everyone in sight irrespective of age and gender. The death toll was 147, including 132 schoolchildren.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced holiday for all the educational institutions in the province to mark the day. Functions have been planned in different educational institutions and other places to remember the young martyrs.

PM's message:

In a message on the second anniversary of attack on the Army Public School (APS) in Peshawar, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the “Pakistani nation and leadership took a clear and categoric decision for indiscriminate action against terrorists after the APS incident.

“We decided to act with our full might for elimination of terrorism and extremism from our society; showing no mercy for those who martyred our little angels,” the PM said.

The prime minister said the world has seen that Pakistan has dismantled the terrorists’ networks and broken their back by rendering matchless sacrifices in this war of its survival.

Prime Minister Sharif extended his heartfelt sympathies to the families of the martyred students and all those who became victims of the tragic incident of Army Public School Peshawar.

“I share the pain and grief with the bereaved families. The entire Pakistani nation feels and shares the pain of the tragedy and stand by the mourning families,” he said.

He said 16th December reminds of the most painful tragedy of when innocent students were mercilessly killed at the place of their studies.

“It was a day when the heartless enemy committed an act of barbarism and savagery against defenseless school boys. We cannot forget the agony of this day,” the Prime Minister said.
