Nawaz must answer allegations in parliament: Imran

LAHORE: PTI chief Imran Khan said on Friday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should answer allegations of money laundering and tax evasion in front of the parliament.

Speaking to media persons, Imran said that by lying in the parliament, PM Nawaz had himself undermined the institution.

"If the Leader of the House is lying in the National Assembly, then he himself is undermining it," he said.

Imran said that he will attend the parliamentary session when Nawaz Sharif shows up to answer allegations. He said that people misunderstood the meaning of U-turn and did not actually comprehend what it meant. He called on PM Nawaz to answer allegations like British premier David Cameron did.

"Changing your stance or lying is a U-turn," said the PTI chief. "We wanted to hold the PM accountable and that is what we are trying to do," he said.

The PTI chairman said that Speaker Ayaz Sadiq had claimed that the matter was in court. Imran said that it was not a petty issue that the Prime Minister had lied during a parliamentary session.

"I refuse to recognise Ayaz Sadiq as the Speaker of the National Assembly," said Imran.

Imran said that Justice Faiz Qazi's report was a question on the government's performance.

Imran said that terrorism will not be tolerated. He praised Pakistan Army for carrying out an effective operation against militants and said that it was due to the armed forces that terrorism had reduced in the country.
