Father had been praying for shahadat: Junaid Jamshed's son

KARACHI: Late singer-turned-preacher Junaid Jamshed had prayed for martyrdom while he was in Chitral, said his son Taimur Junaid in a lengthy, emotional Facebook post, on Sunday.

"I recently found out that he had been praying for shahadat. One of his companions told me, during one of his bayans in Chitral he stopped in the middle and told everyone to say Ameen to his dua which was, "Aye Allah mujhe apni rah mein shahadat naseeb farma," he said.

Taimur shared a light incident of his father, one from London a couple of years ago when it was raining hard and his mother told the renowned singer to retrieve the clothes they were drying in the backyard.

"One time I remember we were in London and it started raining. Our clothes were drying in our backyard so mom told dad to bring them inside before they got wet. In the process he said, “Koi agar dekh lay Junaid Jamshed ki family unsay kya kaam kara rahi hai“," Taimur recalled.

According to Taimur, Junaid Jamshed always kept in touch with everyone and often reminded them that he loved them and prayed for them. He said that the singer was always immersed in his phone.

"People from around the world came for his janaza and explained he would keep in touch with everyone. He would call them, message them, be concerned for them. If you notice for the past year he would always be on his phone in his pictures and like me, I feel everyone wondered why he was on his phone all the time. It was because he was always busy reminding everyone he knew that he was thinking of them and praying for them," wrote Taimur.

Junaid Jamshed was killed in the PK-661 flight air crash along with 46 other passengers. The flight was on its way from Chitral to Islamabad when it crashed at Havelian. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the plane crash.
