PM Abbasi and Nawaz meet to discuss JUI-F chief’s concerns over FATA reforms

LAHORE: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former premier Nawaz Sharif met at the latter’s Jati Umra residence on Thursday to discuss Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman’s concerns over the FATA Reforms Bill.

During the meeting which was also attended by senior leaders of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), including Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, other political issues were also discussed. Both also discussed that it was important for PML-N workers to increase their interaction with the people for the 2018 general election.

The former premier also said that his party was willing to make sacrifices for the sake of democracy.

During a National Assembly (NA) session today, the opposition staged a walkout again because the FATA Reforms Bill was left out of its agenda once again.

PM Abbasi met FATA supreme council to discuss the merger and was told that the people of FATA want to maintain their unique identity.

JUI-F chief had announced that he would conditionally support the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and would continue to hold consultations for reforms bill.

A deadlock currently persists over FATA Reforms Bill.
