ECC approves sugar export of 0.1m tons
ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) cabinet on Tuesday allowed the export of another 0.1 million tons sugar.
Finance Minister Asad Umar chaired the meeting where the ECC after detailed discussion, approved the proposal took the decision to export additional 0.1 million tons sugar.
According to the sources the ECC briefly discussed a five-point agenda. A summary aimed to resolve the problems to sugar industry was also presented at the meeting.
Earlier on October 3, sugar exports of one million tons were already approved by the ECC meeting. This export quota is approved in addition to already approved quantity of one million tones.
The ECC also approved to start earlier crushing of sugar than normal. On the other hand ECC also advised to make comprehensive strategy to pay refunds to exporters.
