Chinese to be introduced in country: Firdous
SIALKOT: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said arrangements were being made for introducing Chinese language at school level across the country and this programme would soon be initiated.
Speaking as a chief guest at Mehfil-i-Milad held at Roots School system here on Saturday, she said the step was being taken for promoting Chinese language among the masses.
“China is our trustworthy friend and always supports Pakistan on various international issues and Chinese language at this juncture has become more imperative for enhancing bilateral trade between Pakistan and China,” she said.
The information minister said language was a main hurdle between the two friendly countries to increase bilateral trade, adding that efforts would be made for starting Chinese language classes in this export-oriented city and hub of cottage industry of the country to facilitate business community and public.
In this regard, Roots School system was playing a pivotal role in promoting Chinese language and about 2,000 children were learning the language, she added. The minister said private sector was playing an instrumental role in promotion and expansion of education and the role of private sector was laudable.
Dr Firdous, on this occasion, stressed upon people that they should shun their minor difference for larger national interest and work collectively for unity and brotherhood in the country.
“Islam is a religion of peace, brotherhood and tolerance, and let us pledge on the eve of Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) to work for peace and brotherhood,” she added.
The information minister said the best way to pay tribute to the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is to follow the principles of Islam and the golden teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAW).
